বাসচাপায় গুঁড়িয়ে যাওয়া ফোন থেকেও তথ্য উদ্ধার সম্ভব! উদ্ধার করে দেখালেন 'জনপ্রিয়' লেখক এবং আইনজীবী বব সালিভান। নিজের ফোনটি বিসর্জনের মাধ্যমেই এই পদ্ধতিটি খুঁজে পেলেন তিনি।
ব্যক্তিগত সাইটের মাধ্যমে সালিভান জানান, ওয়াশিংটনের রাস্তায় বাইক চালানোর সময় ফোনটি তার পকেট থেকে পড়ে যায়। তুলতে গিয়ে তিনি দেখতে পান শক্তিশালী ইনসিপিও কেইসে মোড়ানো তার এইচটিসি ওয়ান ফোনটি বেশ অক্ষতই রয়েছে। কিন্তু ফোনটি তোলার আগেই তার উপর দিয়ে চলে যায় একটি বাস। সালিভানের মতে, "স্লো-মোশন মুহূর্তের মত আমি হতবাক হয়ে দেখলাম দুটি চাকা ফোনটিকে পিষ্ট করল।"
প্রযুক্তি সাইট সিনেট জানিয়েছে, লেখক নিয়মিতই তার ফোনের ব্যাকআপ রাখতেন তবে তা স্বয়ংক্রিয় ছিল না। সুতরাং শেষ ব্যাকআপের পর তোলা ছবি কিংবা ভিডিওগুলো তখন হারিয়ে যাওয়ার পথে। ভাঙ্গা ফোনটি চালু এবং বন্ধ করা গেলেও সালিভান তার পিন নম্বর প্রবেশ করাতে ব্যর্থ হচ্ছিলেন। অবশেষে শেষ রক্ষা হয় একটি ৫ ডলার মূল্যের ইউএসবি-ওটিজি অ্যাডাপটারের মাধ্যমে। অ্যাডাপটারটি দিয়ে একটি সাধারণ ইউএসবি মাউস ফোনের সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত করা সম্ভব হয়। মাউস সংযুক্ত করার পর একটি বড়সড় মাউস পয়েন্টারের আবির্ভাব হয় ফোনের পর্দায় যা ব্যবহার করে সালিভান তার পিন নম্বর প্রবেশ করাতে পারেন এবং ব্যাকআপ না করা ছবিগুলো উদ্ধার করেন।
"আমি কী হারালাম! আমি কীভাবে ডাক্তারের অ্যাপয়ন্টমেন্ট-এর ঠিকানায় পৌছাতে পারব? আমি কি কোনো ভুল করলাম? কোন ডেডলাইন ফসকে গেল? আমার মাথায় অনেক কিছুই ঘুরছিল।” সালিভান তার বিবৃতিতে বলেন। তার মতে, আমরা আমাদের ফোনের উপর প্রকৃতপক্ষেই অনেক বেশি নির্ভরশীল হয়ে পড়ছি।
সালিভানের মতে, সস্তা এই উপায়টি হয়ত অনেক প্রযুক্তি বিশেষজ্ঞের কাছে সাধারণ ঘটনা তবে আমার কাছে এটি বেশ রোমাঞ্চকর ছিল। তিনি বলেন, "আমার বাবা ছিলেন একজন শখের মিস্ত্রি এবং তিনি আমাকে শিখিয়ে যান আমি যেন সর্বদা নিজের সমস্যাগুলো নিজেই সমাধান করার চেষ্টা করি।”
